I feel very fortunate to have met Ilmo while working as a contractor at Sony. Although I had not seen him in person for many years, I remember him well from those days. He was a creative thinker, and a kind, helpful, and funny colleague, always happy to share useful tips and tricks for making things work better, from research tools to organizing a crash course on videogames for us non-gaming linguists. We also shared a Finnish background and enjoyed comparing notes on random linguistic and cultural topics. I was very sad to hear of Ilmo’s sudden passing, and send my deepest sympathy to Hayzell, Cal, and all of Ilmo’s family. He will be deeply missed.
