During my PhD, I was preparing for a Facebook UXR summer internship interview when my friend who worked there suggested I speak with Ilmo, a remarkable quantitative researcher. Ilmo graciously spent nearly an hour with me, helping me understand what I needed to do to succeed. I got the job, which altered the trajectory of my life. We had lunch once during my internship, which was lovely. He was a genuinely kind and generous person.
I am so sorry for your loss. Please know that in Ilmo’s honor, I will continue to help people I do not know well who are navigating the job market. This is something he exemplified, and I believe it reflects the best of what we can offer each other as human beings.
