Kindness and curiosity

I remember Ilmo from my grad school days in the Keltner Lab. Ilmo was one of those rare undergraduate students who was always present in lab meetings. I mostly have feeling memories about Ilmo from this time, others worked more closely with him, but my feeling was of Ilmo always being kind and curious. It was special to have that kind of energy at lab meetings and in conversations around projects. Later I ran into Ilmo at conferences. At that time he was a graduate student, but it was the same: all kindness and curiosity. It is special thing to be able to (and willing to) impact people in that way!
