I first met Ilmo and Hayzell at Oxford while getting to know Ariel. Meeting Ilmo was a highlight; Ilmo has given me the best Oxford University punting lesson; his kindness and humor made me feel so welcome. Less than a year later, I married Ariel, and we’ve kept in touch with Ilmo and Hayzell ever since. Every catch-up with Ilmo brought laughter, as he always found a way to break the ice and make everyone feel at home. Whether sharing Finnish words, dishes, or a nod to IKEA, Ilmo had a unique way of connecting with others. I will miss you dearly, Ilmo.
